Sophie Verlag, an innovative and independent children’s book publisher based in Munich, was founded in November 2018. Our mission is to create emotional, informative and entertaining children’s books that engage both their minds and senses. We would like to entertain children with knowledge!
Knowledge and entertainment – isn’t that a contradiction? Certainly not! We want to make our young readers curious and motivate them to enjoy research, exploration, knowledge and learning. A feeling of astonishment should accompany every voyage of discovery in the world of knowledge – and that should always be the case.

Mysterious Worlds
‘Mysterious Worlds’, the brand new series of children’s non-fiction books, lives up to its title: young readers go on a voyage behind the scenes and get to know fascinating worlds that they would never come across in their everyday lives. How do wolves stick together in a highly organised wolf pack? What forces are at work inside the Earth’s core before a volcano discharges fire, lava and ash? And how can it be that nobody knows why and where the once flourishing city of Atlantis has disappeared?
Topics that have aroused the imagination of our young readers for generations are presented here in a highly emotional way that is suited to the viewing habits of our time, combined with factual information based on state-of-the-art scientific knowledge.
Flora & Leo
Flora and Leo are a brother and sister with very different temperaments. Eight-year-old Flora is a bundle of energy and is desperate for daring adventures, while her six-year-old brother Leo is more of an introvert, dreamy character. What they have in common, however, is their boundless curiosity. They simply have to know the reasons behind everything. Some of the responsibility for this is borne by Flora and Leo’s parents. Their mum is a natural scientist at the university, while their dad adores travelling around the world and also loves good food.
Flora and Leo visit all kinds of possible and impossible places, ranging from the forest and lakes close to where they live to really far-away places, such as stars and planets – not forgetting their parents’ constantly magical and enchanting travel destinations.
